Documented tampering with evidence, and misconduct in local, county, state, and federal law enforcement within Ravalli County and The State of Montana.

****************************************************

Ravalli County owes duty to Public to hire competent law enforcement officers, to adequately supervise and train Sheriff Deputies, to ensure that officers complied with the laws, standards, and best law enforcement practices, and provide oversight to ensure deputies were doing their job consistent with County, State, and Federal law.

The City of Hamilton has a duty to train Police Officers to comply with laws, standards, and constitutional protections. Further, City has obligation to provide oversight on conduct and operations of Police officers to ensure acceptable performance to the public.

Be nice!  If you want to intimidate, threaten,  resign and become a cage fighter or something.

The City of Hamilton is reminded that you have city limits, and police vehicles do not have jurisdiction outside of these areas, other than infractions inside these limits and travel outside.

This site is demanding the firing of Hamilton Police Chief RYAN OSTER for incompetency.

Sheriff Candidate Vanek is training law enforcement aborad....we needed him here.

We want to Endorse a candidate for office in Lincoln County, whose Sheriff had the decendcy to not run for office when we exposed the alleged rapes at the hands of his deputies in Beneath the Beauty documentary.  Attempted recall resulted in candidate to ashamed to run.  Our candidate Hoffman is not that smart.

Rex Nichols was featured in the documentary, in the round table session for the Lincoln County Watch.  They are bravely attempting to uphold the US Constitution against the same odds we have here in the Bitterroot Valley.

Rex is a fine leader, with plenty of law enforcement background.  Better still, he is a champion of the people, far cry from our Sheriff Candidate Hoffman.  Rex tirelessly works for the rights of the people, and will be a fine Sheriff if elected in Lincoln County Montana.

Sheriff candidate Rex Nichols of Lincoln County is endorsed by Greg Marbut of the Montana Shooting Sports Association, recently in Montana State and National news, Rex Nichols is also endorsed by national speaker Richard Mack, whose message is that the Sheriff is the last line of defesnse in defedning our freedoms.

Sheriff Chris Hoffman Ravalli County goes out of his way to take our freedoms.  See www.MTjustice.info and view the online Recall petition which was signed by 75 brave Ravalli County voters. Find it on the RECALL ACTION page.  See our letter to the President of the United States on the homepage.

Law Enforecement of a feather, flock together.  Deputies endorsed Hoffman 4 job security.

Wayne Kelley, Third party candidate is running for Ravalli County Sheriff, Vote Nov. 2, 2010

If elected, Kelley says one of his goals is to make sure the sheriff's department enforces laws while protecting individual rights (courtesy of KPAX).  Need we say more electors of Ravalli County?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

please send those you know to this site. Defamation should not decide who holds office, it should be on merits. We either elect a Sheriff who will hire and tolerate criminal activity, or we will restore our liberty and live to see real prosperity with  Wayne Kelley, Libertarian for Ravalli County Sheriff.

Lets give you a taste of what you'll get if Hoffman is re-elected:

Sheriff Chris Hoffman, Ravalli Co. Sued for Civil Rights Abuses; 47 counts alleged, actual damages $4M

Ravalli County, Montana- A federal civil rights lawsuit was filed against Sheriff Chris Hoffman for conduct by his department relating to an October 10, 2006 incident.  Prosecuting victims, tampering with evidence, unequal protection, improper search and seizure, and ignoring a Deputy State Fire Marshall (not upholding Montana State Law: Sheriff Hoffman’s oath of office) on two occasions are a few of the charges alleged in the federal complaint.

The civil rights lawsuit claims intimidation tactics by the Ravalli County Sheriff Department, as well as failure to protect residents from harm. The Ravalli County Sheriff, and the Ravalli County Attorney did not permit residents to defend or protect property; common law in the Montana Constitution. County Attorney and Defendant George H. Corn did deny an open Sheriff Case for threats and intimidation, as well as a neighborhood petition (based in Montana criminal law) that deemed a perpetrator a public nuisance. The Ravalli County Sheriff and Attorney had one outcome in mind: to violate the rights of Ravalli County residents and get away with it. They won't.

Actual damages by the Sheriff Department and Ravalli County top $4.0M. A total of forty-seven (47) counts are alleged in the lawsuit against the Sheriff Department, Ravalli County, Hamilton Police, City of Hamilton, and several entities that conspired with them to deprive protected rights. The case was filed in Federal District Court, Missoula Division. Punitive damages are being sought to punish the malicious activity of the Ravalli County Sheriff Department and other entities; these added damages are being set aside for trial. The Ravalli Republic, Hamilton’s only newspaper is a named Defendant and collaborator with the county and other Defendants to deprive civil rights. This lawsuit aims to stop the practice of Ravalli County officials intentionally targeting individuals. Corruption limits Ravalli County’s ability to prosper: JUSTICE BRINGS PROSPERITY. The destruction of innocent people’s lives in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana will end. More constitutional torts will be filed if the behavior continues. However, we hope our efforts are finally complete.

NEW WE THE PEOPLE, AND ACTUAL FRIENDS OF VANEK TESTIMONIALS AT BOTTOM

=============================================================

May 5, 2009 Ravalli Republic Photo

Mr. Blakely of Stevensville, Montana "thought he was going to die" when he was approached by Deputies who most likely made this pellet rifle incident more severe (like a SWAT response).  Do we know anyone running for office who would have handled this situation better?  (Wayne Kelley for your rights).

Top 10 reasons not to vote Hoffman for Sheriff in Ravalli County:

10. Hoffman is never available: A Sheriff is not voicemail activated.

9. Hoffman is not independent of County Attorney, Judges: this does not protect your rights, or let the Sheriff work for you or your family.

8. The four (4) Detention Center suicides in 2005 were on Hoffman’s watch.

7. Hike at your own risk: Hoffman’s recovery of lost hikers is dismal. Search & rescue are not to blame.

(Missoulian Article from 2007): After nearly two months of extensive search efforts, Ravalli County authorities still have no leads about the whereabouts of a Corvallis woman who went missing July 18 in the Bear Creek Overlook area west of Victor.

Barbara Bolick, 55, was hiking near the scenic overlook when, in less than a minute, she became separated from a companion, her husband's cousin's boyfriend, who told investigators the woman “disappeared.”

6.Boaters needlessly die every year in high water accidents on the Bitterroot River: Hoffman does not protect us.

5. Hoffman’s Deputies aren’t trained well enough to know the difference between misdemeanor and felony warrant execution; or when or how to use force.

4. Felony theft of 40,000 rounds of ammunition by Hoffman’s Sgt, and Felony partner assault by Hoffman’s former Undersheriff who was rehired as a Deputy.
All under the watchful eye, and demonstrated leadership of Sheriff Chris Hoffman of Ravalli Co.

3. Deliberate indifference of 2000 Florence murders under Hoffman’s direction from 2002 to 2010; even with national spotlight of America’s Most Wanted.

2. Sheriff Chris Hoffman is lead Defendant for millions in civil liability to Ravalli County by incompetent leadership, and at times intentionally violating protected civil rights. We all pay for Chris Hoffman’s mistakes and his violations to the oath of office.

1. Hoffman’s deputies voted no confidence in his abilities before the 2006 election, in 2007, 75 voters signed a recall of Hoffman in Ravalli County. It’s time for a new Sheriff, Bitterroot Valley. We are not safe with Hoffman in office.

Hamilton Hit and Run accident, proof that no law exists in Ravalli County

---We need trained, professional, and community respectful law enforcement!

Hit and Run Accident, September 14, 2007 at Foxfield Ave. and US 93 involving a former Hamilton City Councilman.  It retired a Montana Highway Patrol Commander, and it sent a Police Chief to the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA.  Hamilton Police Chief Oster was at the scene, and covered up the accident.  An elderly man in the passenger seat was hospitalized.

Sheriff Chris Hoffman trained the Police Chief, and was partnered with him at Hamilton PD.

Shouldn't Chris Hoffman lose his elected position for incompetent training?

*****

LET'S PULL SHERIFF HOFFMAN'S STAR:

It has been reported that intimidation has already happened with respect to signs in peoples yards and fields.  Let us borrow Gene Williams' comment from the Beneath the Beauty DVD we released this Spring:

you are very weak if you must attack someone with violence.

Sheriff Chris Hoffman is showing how it works in HIS Ravalli  County.  If you want brutality, intimidation, no justice, vote for him.  If we let the group of people control our justice who bully, intimidate, and break the law, we all lose out.  Sheriff Hoffman has beed said to be a good man, but a terrible Sheriff.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sheriff Chris Hoffman tracking steps:

New York Times Photo...not the kind of attention Ravalli Co. needs.

Sheriff Chris Hoffman threatened Michael Spreadbury in the Ravalli County Sheriff Office in March 2009.  He told Mike to "Watch His Step in Ravalli County".  Mike plans to watch his step all the way to the voting booth and vote in a new Sheriff 11/2/10.  This incident was witnessed by a retired law enforcement officer.  The witness had a family member arrested within days of this encounter due to Sheriff Hoffman telling us he would "review our files" while we met with Hoffman.  This is documented in the Beneath the Beauty DVD --view free snipets at: www.beneaththebeauty.com.

Hoffman has threatened Sheriff Candidate Joede Vanek to the degree that the retired law enforcement felt the need to report it to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On May 6, the Sheriff candidates met in the Roxy Theater, Hamlton.

Of note, Mr. Hoffman was a very good salesman, and Mr. Vanek proved to be a very professional retired law enforcement officer.

**A Business owner did not get any detective from a broken window and burgurlary and in her words: "how can we trust the Sheriff Department when they don't even respond"?

Sheriff Hoffman did not respect women by calling them "emotional" and eluding questions.  Hoffman did not uphold Montana State law in two instances, and he claimed all night (like a businessman) to uphold the sworn oath in Montana.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vanek pointed out that the Ravalli Sheriff has 37 vehicles for 29 deputies

  • and $140,000 in overtime budget instead of paying for more deputies
  • Community helpful deputies instead of untrustworthy ones.

A NEW SHERIFF WILL BRING RAVALLI CO. TRUTH, JUSTICE, AND VISION

this page gave just gave you plenty of reasons that we need a new Sheriff.

Montana Highway Patrol Patch courtesy of MT DOJ website

The Montana Highway Patrol were caught in an accident scheme in December 2008 which was never investigated, the "troopers"are still on the roadways without reprimand.  MHP refused to invesatigate a felony hit and run accident (pictured on this page). To this day, MHP continues to tamper with evidence, ignore witness statements, place blame for accidents on hapless victims, and reject qualified candidates.

Will Bullock take control of the MHP?

The Cozy political relationship with MHP should end.  If misconduct is going on, the Attorney General is responsible to protect the public.  Thowing of accidents, refusing to investigate accidents, issuing no test scores to candidates seems like misconduct to us.  The buck stopping with Steve Bullock does not seem to add up to a full dollar.  This is why Montana ranks 48th in the nation (last) for justice, and why Steve Bullock needs to be voted out of office in 2012.

Testimonial Letters from WE THE PEOPLE OF MONTANA:

Vote for Joede Vanek published June 3, 2010

Perry Johnson's term as county sheriff (1998-2002) was a total disaster for the sheriff's department - and for the county financially. Many capable, experienced deputies resigned or were summarily terminated when encountering his irrationality. Additionally he was found guilty of maliciously prosecuting an elderly citizen (my wife) costing the county tens of thousands of dollars (probably more than $100,000 in all) plus hundreds of hours of the county attorney's time and weeks of work for the expensive Missoula lawyer hired by the county in a self-serving attempt to help his wife's co-worker avoid the clearly written finders law in the Montana Code. In the same case, then assistant county attorney (now city judge, Mike Reardon) was guilty on not one, but two counts, of defaming her character. The story was well covered in local papers in April 2001 and September 2006. (Birds of a feather flock together).

In 2000 (watch these dates) three ladies were brutally murdered in Florence. Rumors abounded about Johnson's incompetent contamination of the crime scene. Recognizing the odds of re-election were poor he did not seek a second term in 2002 but was regrettably retained by his buddy Hoffman, the current sheriff, ostensibly to solve the murders. On Nov. 7, 2005 (five years later) Johnson informed the Ravalli Republic, after reciting scripture - his favorite diversionary tactic, that no suspects had been apprehended or were in custody. Only three weeks later, on Nov. 28, 2005, the Missoulian reported that the prime suspect, Brian Weber, had been in custody for over a year. Just recently, a Missoula judge threw out the case against Weber because of (pay attention here) faulty investigative procedures at the crime scene. It has been almost 10 years since these brutal murders. However, thanks to his relationship with current sheriff Chris Hoffman, Johnson is still enjoying employment as a county employee occupying office space and awaiting his ill-gotten retirement benefits, for which we taxpayers are paying. The crime remains unsolved.

In July 2009, Hoffman appointed Johnson as his undersheriff, stating he chose him because they shared the same values. At a recent meeting of the Pachyderm Club I asked Hoffinan what those values were and, after much hesitation and thought, he said it was because they shared the same spiritual values. There was no mention of any law enforcement achievements by Johnson. (How's that for managerial decision making?)

Johnson clearly violated the ninth commandment, under oath, during my wife's trial. (IX: "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor"). If Hoffman shares this type of spiritual values with Perry Johnson, then it's time for the voters of this county to exercise their values and throw these pseudo evangelists out of office. The terms sanctimonious and hypocritical come to mind. (Birds of a feather still flock together .... at the courthouse). Any change of leadership at the sheriffs office will be an improvement and begin an ending to the courthouse cronyism. Vote for Vanek!

Support Vanek for sheriff published June 3, 2010

Regarding Joede Vanek, candidate for sheriff, it is impossible to rebuke the misinformation and baseless speculation I've read recently in the 300 words or less I'm allowed here, so I will attempt to give a little insight.

I first met Joede almost 20 years ago when we were both young officers on the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Unlike many who have written about Joede, I actually know him, his family and his work ethic. Vanek is a man uniquely qualified to run for public office because of his boldness, his ability to confront and fight for what's right; his philosophy of accountability to the public, and his nature to be so candid, forthright and honest. Joede believes public servants are actually and literally servants of the public. Joede is not the type of person to say something just to say it, even if it means winning favor or even to get elected. If Joede were to have compromised on this, he could have likely obtained the endorsement of certain political groups, but that's not Joede.

If you have a question about where Joede stands on an issue, ask him. Seriously, ask him. He's my friend, but he's a horrible politician in this aspect. He won't tell a person what he knows they want to hear. He's told me a few things I haven't wanted to hear, but that's just how he is. Who you vote for and why you vote for them is entirely your business. But the record should be set straight. If you've read or heard something negative about Joede Vanek, you'd be right to be skeptical of its accuracy, and critically consider the source.

William Towery (friend, colleague of Joede Vanek)

An Open Letter to the People of Ravalli County, put in election tab of the Bitterroot Star June 2, 2010 edition
In the coming election, we get to choose who shall be the Sheriff of Ravalli County. The Sheriff is the strongest power of law in the county, there is no one above him. The incumbent Chris Hoffman has been put in this position twice by our vote. After his election he is supposed to swear an oath to defend the people's rights under the laws of the State of Montana, and the Constitution of the United States. After his two terms we find ourselves without any rights, millions of dollars lost to the county, a state of fear and repression with no other relief except to not elect Chris Hoffman as Sheriff. The County Attorney George Corn has denied us our "right to petition", as guaranteed by the Constituion of the United States of America. Corn is another elected "Administrator".

In the debates and smear campaign by Hoffman he has answered one of the questions as to his ability to be the Sheriff. He now touts himself as an "Administrator". I am so glad that he finally admitted that. Hoffman claims that his opponent, Joede Vanek, whose resume reads like a hero novel, is "not qualified" to be Sheriff because he is not an administrator. Let us look at Hoffman's administrative skill; seven deaths at the hands of Ravalli county Law Enforcement, a best selling non fiction book with Hoffman as the villaiin (Finders Keepers), the main concern of a two hour documentary on corruption and injustice in Ravalli County (Beneath the Beauty), over one million reads of the mtjustice letter to the President regarding Ravalli county (mtjustice.info), countless lives forever scarred by his disregard for our constituional rights and his malfeasance as an elected official. I would point out that the elected administrative position is not immune from prosecution for wrong doing "knowingly or unknowingly". The deputies are at his command. All of this is Hoffman's legacy.

In all such careers and endeavors, we dont always get it right, mistakes are made. However, nowhere in history is there such a record of one such as this, "Hoffman's department never got anything right". We have no law in Ravalli County. Fear, ineptitude, and intimidation must be replaced by "Protect and Serve".

Hoffman has stated that his law enforcement career is solely represented by his duty as a City of Hamilton police Officer. It appears that the entire county judicial system has also evolved out of this same "gene pool". It is doubtful that the city is a legal entity. Small wonder that nothing works here.

This is our one chance to get rid of this guy and what he represents. If Hoffman remains in office "will the last person leaving Ravalli County, please turn out the lights".

Support for Vanek published in election insert June 2, 2010 Bitterroot Star Weekly paper, Stevensville, MT www.Bitterrootstar.com

I am writing this letter on memorial day, a day to celebrate our freedom as a nation . On Tue. June 8, we have a primary election for Sheriff of Ravalli county. This is one of the most important races any of us can vote in. Whoever becomes our next Sheriff will determine how much freedom and civil rights we will have here in this county.
For the last 12 years we have had outrage after outrage, 1/2 pound of cocaine missing from evidence room, jail suicides, deputies using the Sheriff's computer to access pornography, wife beating drunks hired to police us. Thousands of dollars worth of ammunition stolen right under the Sheriff's nose.Citizens complaints thrown in the waste basket and never an answer. Its almost impossible to get a copy of a police report with out endless red tape.and endless waiting.
We must change things in Ravalli county. We need professional law enforcement in Ravalli County. I am voting for Joede Vanek a tried and true police professional with 20 years experience and advanced training who can inspire and teach our deputies to be professional peace officers.
When you dial 911 who do you want to show up, a bully with a badge and a gun or a professional well trained peace officer? Its your choice. At the present time you are better off dialing-a-prayer than 911.
