Bitterroot Rising would be remiss, if we did not publish the name pegged by the community on Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital: Carcass Daily Memorial Hospital

Note to viewers:
Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital (MDMH) owns various clinics and several doctors offices are affiliated with this hospital network. You may be supporting MDMH and not be aware. Example: medical clinic in Corvallis, MT on main st. affilaited.
You may want to consider not supporting a Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital clinic, if concerned ask the receptionist of thier affiliation, if any.

The court case of MDMH against Ravalli County with respect to Mental Health care is detailed below. See the entire page for more information on this local employer.

a picture of the permanent command center set up by Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital (MDMH) at the Ravalli County Detention Center (just in case there is a new suicide, and they will be ready). Notice Ambulance in background of RCSO parking lot.

A current employee of Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital (MDMH) has cut back their hours to part time, due to what they say is politics so thick, they could not stand it full time. Now that's an employer to work for.
We are getting information that in an empty Emergency Room, a patient had vital signs taken (to protect MDMH from liabilities) and waited for the patient to be disgusted enough to leave on their own volition. We have our own government health squads, its MDMH.

DON"T BE A DUMMY-----IF YOU CRASH...GET MEDICAL CARE IN MISSOULA!

Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital
had to ask A STATE COURT JUDGE if
- taking someone's clothes
- isolating them from friends and family
- giving no treatment at their hospital
violates the patients rights...?
maybe we should ask why MDMH should treat patients in Ravalli County?
******
The Chief of medical staff did manipulate the mental health of an employee at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital in 2008. If you are looking to work at MDMH, or want to check into living in the Bitterroot Valley, please consider getting medical care in Missoula at Community Hospital, or St. Patrick Hospital.
Would anyone with information that is on this page wish to be "treated" at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital, nonetheless work at this Hospital?

Court Information below:
MDMH vs. Ravalli County DV-08-598 has new scheduling dates:
July 30, 2009--expert witness names
August 31, 2009--Discovery deadline
September 21, 2009-- statement of undisputed facts
September 28, 2009-- pretrial motions
November 12, 2009-- Hearings on motions completed by this date.
In a nutshell, the hospital is claiming that it is not a Mental Health Facility, and the County did not guard its suspects/patients properly. The County is using the law to get out of a tight situation. The Hospital (in our opinion) should have treated its patients better. This means non-isolation and actually treat the patients instead of treating them like prisoners.

EMT Director scandal:
Our Group was sad to learn of the firing of the EMT Director from Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital in Hamilton, MT. Other concerns are listed on this page, please scroll to bottom to see them all. It now appears that the hospital will have to answer to thier actions, and pay some legal fees too. It might be the cost of doing business, but lots of employees there have put in a career for your organization....don't let them out to dry for your bottom line. It is happening to more than just the former EMT Director, a Physical Therapist with 18 years was axed prior to the grand opening.

We salute the Hospital on helping people with their pain in the new REHAB center. We hope the responsibility of taking care of medical needs will continue throughout the care given at MDMH.
Without doubt, this hospital enjoys the benefits of doing business in the unincorporated city of Hamilton, Montana. When a permit is needed, no problem MDMH, just give generously! They are a client of the Ravalli Republic, with a online banner at this "newspaper's" webportal. Anytime good publicity is needed, its in print. Cozy is what cozy does!!
When an employee gives thirty years dedicated service to the community by training EMT's for the Hospital Ambulance Service, it would be thought that an employer would have negotiated a retirement instead of asserting their dominance over their employees.
This shows lack of leadership, vision, and business sense.

Mental Health and Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital
(in a top 5 county in the county for suicide)
Also troubling is the MDMH court pleading against Ravalli County where the hospital admits, against State Law that they do not treat mental health patients. All doctors, prior to obtaining a license in any state are instructed on how to treat mental health patients. By isolating a "patient" that is not treatment, and is cruel and inhumane. The dollar concern should not be a factor in treating these patients, nor is passing the buck on Bitterroot Valley residents. PS, hire some new lawyers.
Just to clue in the Directors, and Administration, your charter is to provide affordable assessable medical care to the Bitterroot Valley of Montana. How are you maintaining this mission statement when you refuse to treat patients (and also uphold your medical ethics, and state law)?
The founding principal from Mrs. Daly was to care for residents here. Since Ravalli County has the 5th highest suicide county in the nation of approx. 2000 counties, what is your Hospital doing about this? I hope a plan of action is written to change your current policy of "we are not a licensed facility".
Looks cold.....caring for people at MDMH
We are guessing that Mrs. Daly founded the hospital due to seeing the carnage and death from the Anaconda Mines in Butte that Marcus Daly owned. How do you think she would react to how you treat the patients that enter your facility, and the treatment of someone like your former EMT Director? When business "sense" counters a mission statement, it is time for a boss to go.
Public Perception is everything. MDMH needs some improvement before there is a buy-in to your future plans, and current expansion. As consumers, we can choose with our families to obtain health care elsewhere. Due to the treatment of your employees and patients, it would behoove you to make some changes.
Sincerely,
We The People of Ravalli County
==============================================================
We ask that the cozy relationship at best between your organization and "the paper" otherwise known as The Ravalli Republic end. Did you know that this "paper" was victimizing your patients? Do you get paid for this involvement from George H. Corn, the Ravalli Republic, and ohters? Our community needs information, and transparency, not secrecy, payoffs, and maximizing profits so residents get the short end of the stick.
========================================================
Passing the buck on the Rabies shot situatin only shows how MDMH cannot handle non-emergent situations, and fails at leadership to coordinate, and effectively work with other stakeholders in the community. Perhaps it is a time for a leadership change.

HOW MDMH thinks about and treats Mental Health patients:
A "solution" for mental health issues is not sue the county for more money and to "guard" these patients. Last time we checked, you all were attempting to be a hospital. We don't go to a hospital to be guarded, we go to be treated for an illness. Having officials talk about the humane treatment of Ravalli County residents makes us puke. Publishing your plan to humanely treat your patients in need of mental health care would be a good start.
It is pretty obvious: MDMH is more interested in money than humanely treating its patients.
With the new legislative laws concerning mental health, HB 130-132 Perhaps Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital could issue a press release on how this will change it's policies and how this will benefit the community. This is only logical, and requires some sense. We are willing to lead this community in this area, due to a void of transparency. This void came to pass when eveyone was "working together" to endanger, violate rights, and keep silent. Now that things are starting to change, we would appreciate the Hospital informing us on how these new laws will benefit the community and better serve the mental health needs of Ravalli County. Your public relations person should get to work on this.
******
The scholorships for Nursing to the effect of approx. $6000 was a sincere move in the right direction, but to convince us that you are tackling the major problem of suicide in Ravalli County, we need more info on your new policies, or plans for new leadership.
